With an Arabic origin, the heart of the city has distinctive narrow and very steep alleys, fitting the terrain. The municipality is located at the foot of the mountain, under the castle.
Because it lies within the Sierra de Espadán Natural Park, it enjoys a unique surrounding, which makes it the ideal place to spend a weekend or summer season, with the possibility of excursions and strolls around the area of the municipality, and visiting some of its springs and caves.
The climate is Mediterranean, agreeable all year round because the temperatures are not too cold for winter nor too hot for summer, with an annual thermal amplitude of about 15ş C. As to rain, winters are humid and summers are dry, thus the rain seasons are during the spring and autumn.
